Be who you are!
Over several years I have collected wisdoms of my many teachers and friends. These are like the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", or "Do no harm", or "Understand and then seek to be understood (Covey)", or "Say what you mean; do what you say (Buber)".
Recently I published a little book called Be Who You Want to Be. These sayings are guides to a successful business and personal life. You can order it from this web page! (see link to Books by Doug)
Why does this matter?
Who you really are matters because anyone in your personal or business life who matters will think they know who you are. The better you are at being yourself, knowing what you do well and less well, knowing what principles you live by and how you interact with others, the better will be your perceived authenticity and integrity. These are pre-requisites of trust and trust offers you influence.
As an example, Step #12 (p. 32) begins "Ask questions that expand possibilities. Invite in more than you know or have said. Be interested in another persons view. . . . .". This smple idea keeps communiation flowing, and communication problems challenge both personal and business relations.
Step #21 (p. 37) urges you "Don't give up doing what you do best!" Step #32 (p. 42) is"Know what you want and ask for it, but don't be attached to getting it"! It goes on to explore some fascinating results when the answer is, "No".
Near the end is the suggestion that you should live your life as if you have only six months to live and reach goals and objectives you really desire.
You'll love having this little book beside you wherever you go.
